Central Church is organizing a unique and special event for the youth!

The preacher will be Marquis D. Johns. Who is he?

Born in Los Angeles, California, where, growing up, he did everything from sell drugs to rap music. He dropped out of school, spent time in jail, and at one point, due to his insatiable appetite for knowledge, found himself dabbling in the occult. However, after accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior, Elder Johns has done everything from Literature Evangelism to Bible Work. He attended and graduated from the Amazing Facts center of Evangelism, and completed a one year practicum under the tutelage of Pastor Doug Bachelor. The Lord then lead Elder Johns to Yale, Va where he served initially as a Bible worker and eventually as interim Pastor. His passion for working with young people took him to Salem, WV where he assumed the role of Bible Teacher and Chaplain for the Miracle Meadows School for At-Risk Youth. In 2005, he founded a ministry, The Straight Testimony, that has taken him all over the world ministering to young and old alike. The fruit of the ministry led to him being interviewed on 3ABN's 'Today' by Danny Shelton, as well as preaching on 3ABN's 'Faith Chapel'. In 2006, he was called to serve as the Associate Pastor of the Northeast S.D.A church in Charlotte, NC. There, under the expert hand of Pastor Ezra J. Mendinghall, God continued to develop the gifts He has given him and after much persuasion on the part of Elder Mendinghall, Elder Johns was finally convinced to go to Oakwood where those gifts could be further developed. Currently, Elder Johns attends Oakwood University where he is completing his Bachelor's Degree in Theology, serving as USM's Religious Vice President and conducting a weekly Bible study on campus called Dunamis. Truly God has taken, blessed, broken, and is now giving Johns to whole hearted service.
